Roman De Tirtoff, known by the pseudonym Erté, created over 240 cover illustrations for Harper’s Bazaar beginning in 1915. His art, designs and illustrations are housed in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; the Museum of Modern Art, NY; and London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. Peace was created in 1984 as a patinated cast bronze sculpture measuring 26 1/2 x 12 x 6 in. (67.3 x 30.5 x 15.3 cm). With the artist’s inscribed signature and edition number on the base, the artwork was created in an edition of 500.
