A fine impression of this scarce print in excellent condition with 2mm margins, plate tone and remains of old tape verso. Signed upper left corner.
This plate, also known as “Bust of Man Wearing a High Cap Three-Quarters Right”, is believed by many to be a portrait of Rembrandt’s father. The same sitter appears in an oil painting by Rembrandt of the same year in the Ferdinandeum at Innsbruck, Bredius No. 76. The pose is slightly different from the painting but the man is wearing the same hat.
