A superb early impression of this first state of a very rare print. Trimmed to platemark and just within platemark on right, restoration upper left corner, with touches of wash on the turban. Signature top centre.
In about 1635 Rembrandt etched a group of heads of men in exotic dress. The etchings B.286, B.287, B.288 and B.289 became known as the ‘Oriental Heads’, all are powerful and dramatic images, magnificently detailed and widely in demand by discerning collectors.
